'UKR-KINO-ART' show at ArtRepublic gallery
On Thursday (Oct. 20, 2011), ArtRepublic gallery at the ‘Zhovten’ cinema opened a show of works by cinematographers: Sergei Parajanov, Yuri Ilyenko, Aleksei Levchenko, Anatol Stepanenko, Igor Podolchak, Sergei Masloboishchikov, Yulia Lazarevskaya and others.
The opening of the show
The show was initiated by Anatol Stepanenko – a movie director other professional occupations whom include being an artist (he works with graphics, photography, installation, performance and other techniques), as well as curator and poet.
Anatol’s plan was to join the art created by people one usually associates with cinema together with the cinematographic work of artists not normally connected with film in one exhibition.
Work by Aleksei Levchenko
Unfortunately the show’s exposition includes only two collages by Sergei Parajanov. But, at the same time, works by another classic of Ukrainian cinema, Yuri Ilyenko, are present in abundance as his family has handed over a numerous collection of his art-pieces in different media.
