Scotland Yard’s Secret Crime Museum goes on view
Scotland Yard's Crime Museum, kept closed to the public since 1875, may finally go on view when the Metropolitan Police moves to a new headquarters sometime in 2015.
Once dubbed the Black Museum for refusing entry to a newspaper reporter, the museum of criminal memorabilia allegedly contains "letters by Jack the Ripper, hangman’s nooses, death masks, forged banknotes and the ricin pellet fired from an umbrella that killed the Bulgarian dissident Georgi Markov."
While no official plans for an exhibition have been announced, "careful consideration will be given to the future of the Crime Museum," a spokesman said.
