On a Day Like Today, Dutch Artist M. C. Escher, was Born

June 17, 1898.- Maurits Cornelis Escher (17 June 1898 – 27 March 1972), usually referred to as M. C. Escher was a Dutch graphic artist. He is known for his often mathematically inspired woodcuts, lithographs, and mezzotints. These feature impossible constructions, explorations of infinity, architecture, and tessellations. In this image: An artwork, entitled Metamorphosis III, by Dutch artist Maurits Cornelis Escher (1889-1972) is set up at the Museum Escher in The Hague, The Netherlands, 19 April 2011. The seven-meter woodcut is exhibited for the first time in 30 years as a whole at the museum from 20 April on.
